Our second Kids Big Adventure took place on Saturday 17th October at St. Patrick’s Ballymoney and we had exactly 100 kids attending!! Thanks to all the leaders who gave up their Saturday to bring their groups along, you really made the day special for everyone.
The on stage presentation was a mixture of silly warm up songs, drama, praise songs, puppets and a short video –all telling the story of how God created the world and how we humans chose to turn our own way and disobey God.
We then split into age groups for craft and challenge workshops. We made party blower snakes, Adam and Eve biscuits, and creative “creatures” from junk materials. We also had creation themed relay races where teams competed against each other to be the winning team for 2015!
St. Patrick’s Ballymoney is renowned for their hospitality and their home-made cakes and buns so the leader’s café was a very popular spot and a chance for leaders to chat together and have tea and coffee and forget the diet for one day.
After the workshops we joined together for more praise songs, a prayer activity and a great interactive talk by Andrew Neill who needed to learn a lesson or two in growing seeds. (He fed them coke and KitKats and the kids had to put him straight!!). The theme in this section was God’s rescue plan for us in sending Jesus. We also learned to sign along to a song called “Walk with You” so thanks to Aimee Gibson and Amy Webb for teaching us the signs based on British Sign language.
A huge thankyou Rev. Andrew Sweeney and to all the volunteers from Ballymoney –all 20 of you and especially to Kasala Gilchrist who organized everything at her end AND rallied the troops AND baked a huge amount of buns (AND was in early doing the hoovering!) We are really appreciative and grateful to you all.
We really hope to see you all again next year!
