Glenavy Parish has taken part in the 4 week Baby Basics challenge and Jill Hamilton went to pick up the donations on Tuesday 21st March. There was a huge amount waiting at Glenavy church hall –so much so that it took 2 car loads to bring everything to the Connect Base! The congregation was so generous and donated an amazing array of items from the “shopping list” provided.
A presentation of all the donations was made at the “Open Doors” lunch. “Open Doors” is a monthly senior citizens morning held at Glenavy for all the community and has over 80 participants each month. There are so many different activities on offer one being a group of ladies who knit and crochet together. They donate many of their items to good causes including Church Army Homeless shelters and premature baby units in hospitals and they were delighted to knit for Baby Basics. We received 2 big bags full of blankets, hats, booties, cardigans, coats etc. all beautifully handmade with love and skill.
Rev. John Rutter presented the donations from the parish and Paddi Totten presented the knitted items from Open Doors.
Many thanks to everyone at Glenavy Parish for their kindness and willingness to support Baby Basics!
