Crew members needed for Kids Big Adventure

Would you be up for being part of our crew at Kids Big Adventure?

Kids Big Adventure is organized by Ripple Connor- Connor diocese’s children’s ministry and is a fun afternoon for primary aged children and their leaders held annually in October. It’s a chance for children’s groups from churches throughout Connor to come together, learn about Jesus and enjoy getting to know each other. This year we will run the event twice –over 2 consecutive Saturdays to try to make it accessible to as many churches as possible. The two venues are Cloughfern Parish in Whiteabbey (10th) and St. Patrick’s Parish, Ballymoney (17th)

Kids Big Adventure has a full programme of activities lasting for 3 hours, which takes lots of organization so we are planning to develop a crew who could give up their time to support us in this ministry amongst children.

So if I was a crew member at Kids Big Adventure….

What would I have to do?

Typical crew jobs would include:     

  • decorating the hall
  • setting up workshop
  • registration
  • chatting to the kids and make them feel welcome
  • supervising the starter activity
  • manning the book stall
  • supervising workshops
  • helping to run the leaders café
  • tidying up

What is the minimum age requirement?

The minimum age is 16 but we would consider you if you are 14+ and have a good recommendation from your church leaders. Applicants under 18 will need to get a parental consent form filled in and returned.

What are the time requirements?

We would expect the crew to be with us from 11am. This will give us time to decorate the hall, get the workshops set up and have a run through as well as having some lunch and praying together before everyone arrives at 2pm. You will be required to stay until 5:30/6pm to help with tidying up.

You can choose to help at the venue closest to you or come along to both events on 10th and 17th October.

Is there any training beforehand?

Two training evenings will take place in September to give you lots more information about the programme of the day and allocate jobs. You only need to attend one so just choose which one is closest to you!

Thursday 17th September – 7.30pm-9.00pm – St. Anne’s Cathedral


Friday 25th September –7.30-9.00 pm – St. Patrick’s Ballymoney (The Old School House)

How will I make my way to the venues?

You will have to make your own way to the two venues but public transport is available. The Children’s Council team will be already at the venue when you arrive and will greet you and show you what to do.
